On behalf of Children’s International Obesity Foundation (CIOF) and Shinebox Media Productions, you are invited to face our nation’s “Killer at Large”. On Friday, November 21st, we are taking on childhood obesity with a documentary worldwide premiere and social awareness gala like no other. The beautiful Times Center in NYC is the location for the event - The evening kicks off at 6pm and will begin with healthful food tasting by noted organic chefs, followed by the New York premiere screening of the revealing and eye-opening obesity documentary “Killer at Large”. After the film, the audience is invited to take part in a panel discussion about the many causes and possible solutions to the obesity epidemic. The panel will include the filmmakers, along with several experts on obesity, some of which are featured in the film. The evening will also feature a silent auction and raffle fundraiser for CIOF’s programs to promote awareness and prevention of childhood obesity.
We sincerely hope you will take this opportunity to join us to learn more about this epidemic and what you can do to help change it!
Obesity rates in the United States have reached epidemic proportions in recent years. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that at least 110,000 people die per year due to obesity and one-third of all cancer deaths are directly related to it. Former Surgeon General Richard Carmona remarked that obesity is a more pressing issue than terrorism, ‘Obesity is a terror within. It’s destroying our society from within and unless we do something about it, the magnitude of the dilemma will dwarf 9/11 or any other terrorist event that you can point out…’ “Killer At Large” reveals how little is being done to combat the epidemic but more importantly, what we can do to help reverse it.
